Objective: to identify the nursing care recommended for cancer pain assessment and management. Method: this is an integrative literature review conducted in the Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online, Latin American and Caribbean Literature on Health Sciences and Nursing Database databases, via the Virtual Health Library in May 2022. Results: eight articles were included, published between the years 2008 to 2021, and evidence was identified recommending nursing care for the assessment and management of cancer pain. Final considerations: it is recommended, for cancer pain assessment, the application of the Numerical Pain Rating Scale and assessment by means of a complete anamnesis, physical examination, psychosocial and family approach. For pain management, the ANtiPain; auricular acupuncture; diagnoses, outcomes, and nursing interventions according to the International Classification for Nursing Practice are indicated.
