Hospital team care in relation to oral health of hospital patients

Evaluating the oral health condition and the dental intervention needs of hospitalized patients should be a constant concern of the hospital health team, since an oral infection can cause a series of complications in the general health of debilitated individuals. Objective: to evaluate the practices and knowledge of the hospital staff in relation to oral hygiene care for hospitalized patients. Methodology: a descriptive and exploratory study, applied in the form of self-administered questionnaires in the second half of 2020. Results: they demonstrate that nursing professionals consider oral hygiene practices important in patients, but often they are not carried out correctly. right way. Conclusion: oral health is essential for the rehabilitation of hospitalized patients. It is necessary to analyze the patient in general, considering that oral infections are major sources of aggravation of systemic diseases.
