Quality of life of patients using capecitabine

Capecitabine is a drug used in the treatment of breast and colorectal cancer. Objective: to evaluate the quality of life of patients using capecitabine. Method: cross-sectional, descriptive and analytical study. The analysis was carried out using the EORTC QLQ-CR29 and EORTC QLQ-BR23. Results: for breast cancer, in the category of side effects the score was 20.19, indicating a low frequenciy of adverse reactions. For colorectal cancer, the symptoms urinary frequency (51.67) and dry mouth (50.00) were the ones with the highest scores. As for the functional scale, patients with breast and colorectal cancer had an excellent score for body image (85.00 and 87.22, respectively). Discussion: in most cases, the use of capecitabine was able to provide a good quality of life for patients. Conclusion: further studies related to capecitabine are essential. The observed quality of life was considered satisfactory.
