Abstract
Objective: aims to present the effect of amphetamines and the like on the Central Nervous System of the human being. Method: This study is an integrative literature review, through the search for articles in online databases such as: SCIELO and LILACS, using the following descriptors: Central Nervous System, Disorders Caused by Stimulant Drugs, Psychoactive Substances, Euphorizing Drugs and their combinations. Results and discussion: Studies on the consumption of these amphetamines published in Portuguese, English and Spanish in the last 10 years were included. Of the 59 articles found, 12 met the inclusion criteria. Final considerations: The use of amphetamines and the like is totally influenced by social, environmental and cultural issues. Therefore, it was verified with the results obtained that the use of these stimulant drugs consumed illegally is extremely harmful to health. However, to combat the use of these substances, it is necessary to carry out educational campaigns and for the government to help promote with actions, to help the groups most affected by this illicit class of stimulants.
